Grammy Award winner R. Kelly has announced that he will be releasing his new album this 2019. However, according to the 52-year-old R&B music icon, the album will only be featured in various streaming services apps but will include more than a hundred tracks written mostly by R. Kelly himself. R. Kelly will self produce this album and will be out during the second half of the year.
Robert Sylvester Kelly or famously known as R. Kelly (born January 8, 1997), is one of the most prominent names in the R&B music scene. Robert grew up in a Baptist community and was raised alone by his mother Joanne Kelly. During his younger years, he was influenced by the work of musicians such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Donny Hathaway, Sam Cooke, and The Isley Brothers. These so-called mentors inspired the-then young Kelly to engage into music and become what he is today. As a teenager, Kelly became a street performer, playing Blues music in 1989 with friends Marc McWilliams, Vincent Walker and Shawn Brooks. They also formed a band named Musically Gifted Men (MGM) in 1990 but got disbanded later on as Kelly was discovered by Jive Records in 1991. He made his debut in 1992 and became part of the R&B band Public Announcement
Kelly ventured as a solo artist in 1993, releasing his album 12 Play. He is best known for his songs like “I Believe I Can Fly, Bump and Grind, If I Could Back Turn the Hands of Time, I’m A Flirt, Gotham City The World’s Greatest, among others. The R&B star received his very first award in the music industry in 1996, winning the Grammy’s for composing the song “You Are Not Alone” for Michael Jackson. Likewise, his track I Believe I Can Fly won three Grammy Awards in 1998 and was even used as part of the Soundtrack of the movie Space Jam which starred NBA’s Greatest Player of All Time, Michael Jordan and the Looney Toons characters.
R. Kelly has also written, produced and remixed songs for other R&B and Hip-hop artists including Aaliyah Houghton’s (or simply Aaliyah) debut album Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number in 1994. Aaliyah was married to R. Kelly in 1994 but was annulled in 2005. Kelly also did some collaborations with fellow famous artists like Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, Jay-Z, Notorious B.I.G., and a lot more. Over the course of his career, the R. Kelly was able to accomplish a whopping 13 studio albums and 3 collaboration albums. The artist has also been nominated and awarded numerous times by various award giving bodies including a Guinness World Records (for First Song to Debut the US Single Chart at Number One), 3 Grammy Awards,[8] 2 American Music Awards, 1 BET Awards, 6 NAACP Image Awards, 11 Soul Train Awards, and numerous Billboard Music Awards.
